Nellie Fern Moore Tennant, 83, of Jakes Run, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Assisted Living at Evergreen Inc., in Morgantown.

She was born Feb. 28, 1918, at Mannington, daughter of the late Claude and Amanda Pearl Parrish Moore.

In addition to reading, needlepoint and quilting, Nellie enjoyed playing the piano and visiting with her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Jakes Run United Methodist Church, was retired from Monongalia County Board of Education and had worked as a cook and custodian at Jakes Run School.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Maynard E. Tennant; a son and spouse, Leonard and Sue Tennant, of Cumberland, Va.; three daughters and two spouses, Patricia Hostutler, of Jakes Run, Sandra and Wayne Wilson, of Wana, and Pamela and Bruce Hall, of Waynesburg, Pa.; a brother, George D. Moore, of Fairview; two sisters, A. Gladys Holbert, of Fairmont, and Goldie M. Fluharty, of Plum Run; eight grandchildren, Ronald Hostutler, Rebecca Tennant, Ryan and spouse Sally Wilson, Monica and spouse Roger Reed, Aaron Wilson, Marsha and spouse Randy Jones, Amanda Hall and Sara Hall; and a great-grandchild, Thomas Jones.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John D. Moore and Billy E. Moore; and two sisters, Audria J. Glover and Leota G. Glover.

Friends may call at Owen-Neely Funeral Home, Blacksville, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, with the Rev. David Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery, Pentress.
