George Dewey "Jiggs" Moore, 94, of Fairview, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018. He was born Feb. 25, 1924, son of the late Claude and Amanda Pearl Parrish Moore.
George was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Vicksburg in the Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church in Fairview.
George is survived by his daughters, Lora Kay Napier and husband Charles of Lewisburg, and Susan Floyd and husband William of Fairview; grandchildren, Steven Napier and wife Myra, Gayle Boone, and Todd Pruitte; great-grandchildren, Matthew Pruitte, Lexie Bittinger, Layton Boone, and Tamera Crookshank and husband Josh; and great-great-grandchildren, Adrian Crookshank, Eli Croockshank, and Zach Crookshank.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife, Jane L. Moore; brothers, Billy Moore and John Moore; and sisters, Goldie Fluharty, Gladys Holbert, Audrey Glover, Leota Glover, and Nell Tennant.
The family would like to give special thanks to Jojo Finch, Norma Jarrett, and Judy Tucker.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, at Domico Funeral Home, Curry Chapel, 100 Grant Street in Fairview. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28 at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Vincent and Evangelist Mark Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Benefield Cemetery at Punkin Center, where full military rights will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Council.
