Clara Matthys in a deposition on 1 November 1641 stated that she was 31 years of age (NYHMD 4:123, recorded as Clara Tysens). they eloped around 21 July 1639 and had the following children baptized in the New Amsterdam Reformed Dutch Church:
i. Anneken, bap. 1 July 1640 (BDC 10), no further record.
ii. Jan (John), bap. 4 Jan. 1642 (BDC 13).
iii. Abraham (twin), bap 28 Nov. 1643 (BDC 16), no further record. Gov. Willem Kieft was one of the witnesses at the twins' baptism.
iv. Jacob (twin), bap 28 Nov. 1643 (BDC 16), died young.
v. Jacob, bap 14 Oct. 1646 (BDC 21)
Referred to as "Old Jacob"
vi. (possibly), Claertie, no baptism found, would have to be born about 1648 or later
