A Man named Gerrit Jansen Van Oldenburg (German) appears in many early abstracts in New Netherlands and is also known as Gerrit de Mof and Gerrit de Haes. He had the following children christened in the Reformed Dutch Church in New Amsterdam. Anneken 1640, Jan 1642, Abraham 1643, twin Jacob died young, Jacob 1646, and possibly others later?
Jan (John) Gerrits inherited the land of Gerrit de Mof, and his children are known by the surname of Gerritsen...."

"...he also appears on record as John, and his surname takes many forms; besides Gerrits (etc.) he is also called "De Muff" and his widow "vande haes...." I have copies from Allen Co Library (PERSI)
Jan Gerritsen (bap 1642 New Amsterdan Ref. Dutch Church, mar. Elisabeth Fysberts, 5 children). He was the son of Gerrit J. Van Oldenberg alias de Mof (born after 1600, died 1661 mar Clara Matthys(b 1610)...spelled names Gerrits and Gerritsen....a generation later spelled name Garrison."
