Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend, and super Ute fan, Lars Jay Hansen, 72, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Sandy Regional Care Center in Sandy, Utah after many years of illness.

He was born September 26, 1937 in Oasis, Utah to Lars and Albie Hansen.

Jay married Randi Olsen on September 22, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a mission to Norway from 1957 to 1960. He held many callings in the Church. He was a High Priest and especially enjoyed his calling in the Branch Presidency at Crosslands and Atria.

Jay loved people, and had a gift of making friends easily. He had many special friends at the University of Utah, where he worked and retired after twenty-five years of service.

Jay is survived by his wife Randi, children, Annette (Harold) Wallace, Kim (Phil) McDonald, Troy (Christy), Brian (Maria), ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two sisters, Betty Nelson, Laura (Don) Patey, and brother, Marlow (Jean). He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Crescent Twenty-Second Ward Chapel, 116 East 11400 South, Draper. Family and friends may call from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
