Betty Marie Nelson passed away peacefully at home, early in the morning on July 22, 2018, after a struggle with poor health.

Betty was born August 12, 1925 in Oasis to Lars Hansen and Albie Myrle Nichols. She grew up as a farm girl in Hinckley. She developed a strong work ethic on the farm that continued for the rest of her life.

She married Donald E Nelson in Salt Lake City on May 28, 1946. Later, they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 7, 1977 for time and all eternity.

She served in a number of callings in the LDS Church and very much enjoyed them. The one she enjoyed the most was as a worker in in the Jordan River Temple. She often expressed how close she felt to our Savior during those years.

She was a great homemaker and mother all of her life. She raised three sons and one daughter. She loved being with her children and helping with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed keeping her gardens looking very beautiful and spent as much time as she could each day with her flowers and vegetable garden.

Betty is survived by her sons, Gary E. Nelson (Pamela) and Jerry E. Nelson (Debbie); daughter, Kathryn Nelson Davis (Brent); eleven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Don; oldest son, Ron (wife, Sharilynn); one great-grandchild; two sisters; and one brother.

She was married to Don on this earth for fifty-three years now re-united with him for eternity.

A viewing will be held in the Fox Hills Ward Building, 3730 West 6200 South, Taylorsville, on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 9:00-9:45 a.m. The funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Fox Hills Ward Chapel.
Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
