William Richard "Buck" Breeding

W R "Buck" Breeding, 83, of Wellington, died Tuesday, August 10, 1993 in Childress Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 10 am today, August 12, in the Church of Christ with Mr Haun Kite, minister of the North Amarillo Church of Christ and Mr Mac Deaver, minister of the Wellington Church of Christ, officiating. Pallbearers are Don Amerson, Bill Breeding, Jimmy Breeding, John Breeding, Billy Wischkaemper, Spencer Coleman, Joe Knoll, Billy Mac Sims and Buck Williams. Burial will be in Dozier Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Mr Breeding was a lifetime resident of Collingsworth County. He was born on Sept. 22, 1909 in the Enterprise Community to William W. and Mattie Shirley Breeding. Buck graduated from Wellington (Texas) High School with the Class of 1927 and he married Etta Kincannon on June 6, 1934 in Memphis.

A farmer and rancher by profession, he served as commissioner for Collingsworth County for 20 years; was the charter president of the Samnorwood Lion's Club; served on the Samnorwood school board for several years and was on the Texas Farmer's Union Board of Directors for over 10 years. He was on the Board of Directors of the High Plains Eye Bank, served on the steering committee for the Samnorwoood Rural Water System and was instrumental in several Collingsworth County projects including the planning and construction of Pioneer Park.

Survivors include his wife, Etta, of the home; one son, Laron Breeding of Samnorwood; one daughter, Karon Tate of Samnorwood; two sisters, Ethel Coleman of Wellington and Vera Amerson of Pampa; four grandsons, J W and David Breeding of Samnorwood, Stan Tate and wife, LaVort of Samnorwood and Lynn Tate and wife, Sondra of Amarillo. There are three great grandchildren, Vanda, Karah and Travis Tate, all of Amarillo.

The family request memorials be made to the Dozier Cemetery or a favorite charity.
