Of John (Papa) and Mary Ellen's (Mama) nine children, eight are buried at Halls Cemetery with their spouses: Ruth Loriene Hargett Reed (Husband Thomas is buried at Prospect Cemetery in Pulaski TN), Frankie May Hargett Curtis(Elmus)[my grandparents], Faye Ailene Ragland (David), Olive Noel Hargett Ferguson (Neil), Bonnie Zae Hargett Gwynn (Norburne), Rose Marie Hargett Rooks (Charles), George Garland Hargett (Elease), and Mildred Adelle Hargett Brown (William [Bill]). Their other daughter John Ellen Hargett Cole is buried in Llano Cemetery in Randall, Texas with her husband Dr. Marion Wickes Cole, M.D.

John was very tall while Mary Ellen was short and petite. When they were standing next to each other he looked like a giant standing over her.

He was named after his grandfather John Allen Noe; one of his grandson's was name after him as well, John Allen Curtis, who was my father.

He made his living as a wagoner, farrier, produce peddler and finally in poultry & eggs that did very well. He had his own business Hargett Produce Company he founded about 1910 when he moved to Halls from Oklahoma.
