While born in Oklahoma, she grew up in Halls, Tennessee attending school and graduating from Halls high school in 1924. She married in 1928 to Henry Norburne Gwynn and they lived in Memphis as he was a founder of an advertising firm.

Zae wrote many bodies of work on genealogy in North Carolina. She was a member of the Zachariah Davies Chapter D.A.R.of Brunswick, Tennessee & a member of the Southern Arizona Genealogical Society of Tucson, Arizona. Her books include the following, those with * are ones that I know were self-published:

Abstracts of the wills and estate records of Granville County, North Carolina
Guardian accounts of Granville County, North Carolina, 1810-1856
Court minutes of Granville County, North Carolina, 1746-1820
*Abstracts of the records of Jones County, North Carolina 1779-1868
* The 1850 Census of Craven County, North Carolina
Kinfolks of Granville County North Carolina, 1756-1826
*Records of Onslow County, North Carolina, 1734-1850, Vol 1
*Records of Onslow County, North Carolina, 1734-1850, Vol 2
Kinfolks of Granville County, North Carolina, 1765-1826
Abstracts of the early deeds of Granville County, North Carolina, Vol 1
Abstracts of the early deeds of Granville County, North Carolina, Vol 2

Of the self-published versions, I have an original copy of: 'The 1850 Census of Craven Co. NC as well as both Vol I and Vol II of 'The Records of Onslow County, 1734-1820'.

They moved to AZ for Zae's health as she suffered from a respiratory problem. They had no children. Zae's death was due to Pulmonary Emphysema and Asthmatic Bronchitis. She is the only Hargett sibling that I never met but my grandmother spoke of her often.
