Mary Cassidy, my mom- age 8, her brothers Thomas, age 9, and Joseph - age 7, also Cassidy's, the family dog a German Shepherd "Jack", a childhood neighbor from Howard Street, Larksville, PA. - James Dungan, and her father William Cassidy, where walking from Howard Street to the Susquehanna River to witness the flood in 1935.

Thomas had been in the same location earlier with friends, without his father's permission. Thomas Cassidy William's son fell into the Susquehanna River while skipping rocks, my mom Mary said she watched him as he was swept away near the area she was standing near the shoreline of the Susquehanna. Tom fell into the river near the trestle bridge at the Susquehanna river.

Both William and Thomas drowned on this day of July 10, 1935.

William was said to be an excellent swimmer, when Tom fell into the river, William tried to save his son Thomas Cassidy. Tom entered the River in Larksville, near the Trestle bridge, the current was strong, yet William was able to reach and hold his son Tom, while they both continued to be swept away down the Susquehanna River.

Both seen alive at one point, William was holding his son Thomas when they were washed by and under the Carey Avenue Bridge into Wilkes-Barre, as witnessed by a person standing on the Carey Avenue bridge that day.
As to what his location was when he drowned is not known. Wm was found five days later at Wapwallopen, while his son Thomas was never found.
