Death of Mrs. Laura O. Chapman
Mrs. Laura O. Chapman, widow of the late Moses Chapman, former cashier of the Lexington Savings Bank, died this morning at 3 o'clock at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Laura Lane Durnham, in Kansas City, where Mrs. Chapman has been making her home. Her death was caused by heart trouble.
Mrs. Chapman was a daughter of Wm. B. Waddell, pioneer of this county, and was born in Lexington, May 6, 1836, living here until about seventeen years ago when she went to Kansas City. She was a member of the local Baptist church and at the time of her death she was possibly the oldest member.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by two sons, George W. Chapman of Independence, and Charles E. Chapman of Buck, Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. Alice Slayback of St. Louis.
The funeral services conducted by Rev. G. Garland Riggan will be held at the First Baptist Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Machpelah.
The body was accompanied from Kansas City by her two sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Chapman and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. E. Chapman, and granddaughter, Mrs. Laura Lane Durnham, and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Tevis, Mrs. Anna Maude Williams and Mrs. Wm. Barton.
