Robert F. Waddell Dead
Robert F. Waddell, an old and respected citizen of this city, died Monday morning at 1:45 o'clock at his home on South street. Mr. Waddell had been a sufferer for many years of loco-motor ataxia and this with a severe attack of sciatica were the causes of his death. He had been critically ill about a week.
Mr. Waddell was nearly 67 years of age, having been born May 6, 1844. He was a son of the late Wm. B. and Susan C. Waddell. He was born in Lexington and lived here all his life. On October 11, 1865, he was married to Miss Emma E. Clements of St. Joseph, Mo., and to this union two sons, Wm. B. and Clements K., were born, and with his wife survive. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Laura O. Chapman of Kansas City, Mrs. Julia Tevis of Lexington and Mrs. Alice Slayback of St. Louis.
Mr. Waddell before his affliction was at different times engaged in the mercantile business in this city He was also at one time a traveling salesman. In both of these activities he enjoyed the confidence of the public to a remarkable degree.
The funeral, conducted by Rev. T.M. Cobb, was held Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock from the Baptist church. Interment was in Machpelah.
