In failing health for the past two years, Mrs. Sherman Baker died at 7:30 o'clock Friday morning at her home three miles west of Providence. She was 72 years of age. Her condition had been serious since last February.
The body has been removed to the Vandivier parlors, where rites will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon and where friends are invited to call. Interment will be in the family lot at the Harris cemetery in Union township.
Mrs. Baker was born July 3, 1873, a half-mile from the home where she died. The former Miss Dessie Bagley [sic], she was the daughter of James K. Bagley [sic] and Rachel Ann Doty Badgley.

Three brothers and one sister survive, including Albert Badgley, Aden [sic] Badgley and Mrs. Nannie Smith, all of Franklin, and James Badgley, of Indianapolis. Another sister, Mrs. Minnie Batton, of Oklahoma, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Baker was married 55 years ago. Her husband died in 1930. They were the parents of nine children, two of whom are deceased..

Sons and daughters surviving are Kye Baker, of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Tilford Spicer, and Custer Baker, of Union township; Mrs. Homer French, of Indianapolis; Thomas Baker, of Anderson; Mrs. Charles Dickerson, of Bargersville; and Mrs. Gentry St. John, living in Morgan county.

The two children deceased are Mrs. Lester Tudor, of Bargersville, who passed away two years ago; and Miss Icy Baker, of Union township, who died in 1903.

Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Baker was a lifelong member of the Christian Chapel church, and also belonged to the Beech Grove chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

Baker Funeral Is Conducted Sunday

Final rites were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Vandivier mortuary here, for Mrs. Sherman Baker, who died early Friday morning at her home there [sic] miles west of Providence.

Services were in charge of the Rev. Glenn Tudor, pastor of the Martinsville Christian church and former pastor of the Christian church in Trafalgar. Burial was in the Harris cemetery in Union township. Marie Jacobs sang during the service.

Pall bearers were Harley Wyrick, Kenneth Blackwell, Gentry Spicer, Clovis French, Richard Tudor and Noble Spicer. Floral tributes were carried by Mary Catherine Nay, Lorene Sloop, Mary Lynn Baker, Linda French, Josephine Spicer, and Ramona Baker.
