She was born July 15, 1866 in Providence, a daughter of Milton D. and Lovisa Miller Hammond. She attended school in Providence, Brigham Young College in Logan and Brigham Young University at Provo after which she taught school for a few years.
On April 4, 1889 she married Andrew Augustus Allen Jr. in the Logan LDS Temple; he died Feb. 11, 1934.
Mrs. Allen had been active in Church work throughout her life. She was a Teacher in the Sunday School and religion class, Secretary of Relief Society and many other callings with in the church. She was a member of the Relief Society Stake board for 22 years, sixteen of which she served as president.
She was selected by the Relief Society to help make clothing for and dress the dead in the ward which she did for 18 years.
She was a mother of 6 children, four of whom survive; Mrs. A. J. (Hazel) Petersen, Milton A. Allen (Loraine) and Mrs. LaMar (Lucile) Andersen of Hyrum; and Mrs Clifford (Norene) Warr of Preston, Idaho. She is also survived by 21 Grandchildren 59 Great-grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren, and several brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be conducted in Hyrum Second Ward chapel Saturday, 1 p.m., Bp Clyde Yeates conducting. Friends may call at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hyrum Friday evening 7 to 9 and at the family home, in Hyrum Saturday after 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery.
