Married 2nd: Freelove Miller Date: 29 Jan 1864 , Salt Lake City, Utah Died: 8 Jun 1879 , Providence, Cache, Utah Milton 's family moved from New York to Michigan when he was a boy. He later enlisted in a Michigan regiment during the Mexican War. After gold was discovered in California , Milton and his father started west, arriving in Utah in 1850 , where they spent the winter. Milton became interested in Mormonism and joined the Church in March 1851 . In 1853 , he was called to help protect the saints in Southern Utah from marauding Indians. In 1864 , he moved to Providence in Cache County where six years later he was made bishop, and then a counselor in the stake presidency. He was an energetic and enthusiastic businessman and was held in high esteem. He loved horses and imported some of the finest in Cache County . He was associated in business with the building of the railroad. He and his sons built the Millville Flour Mill. After the Logan Temple was dedicated, he became an officiator.
