J. Grierson, early Custer Assessor, Dies
HYSHAM, MT. -- (AP) --- James Baird Grierson, turn-of-the-century assessor of Original Custer County and later Rosebud County Assessor and Court Clerk, died in a nursing home at the age of 84.
Grierson, who spent his life in the Pease Bottom area, Treasure County's first settlement, had been president of a Hysham Bank.
He also served on both the Montana Grass Conservation Commission and the Soil Conservation Board.
He was the first president of the Southeastern Montana Stock growers Association.
Funeral services will be in Hysham at 2 p.m. Monday.
Survivors include the widow, Rosella, son, John, and daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Almond, all of Hysham.
