Clara was the oldest of ten children born to Michael and Ingeborg (Daehlin) Johnson. She was born on a farm northeast of Woodford and lived there until 1907 when the family moved to a farm northwest of Wiota. She and all her siblings were baptized and confirmed at the East Wiota Lutheran Church. Many of Michael's children adopted the middle initial "M". Although she was perhaps following the Norwegian tradtion of using the patronymic "Michaelsdatter", there was actually no middle name.
She married 27 Nov 1930 in Wiota, John Due, a widower with one adult son. John died in 1949. Sometime after that Clara moved to Ottawa, IL to live near and then with her sister, Lena. She lived there for many years prior to her death in 1977.
