Irene Edens
Services for Irene L. Edens, 97, St. Joseph's Nursing Home, formerly of 814 S. Third St., will be Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Stan Kasun officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Home for Funerals, with a wake service at 7;30 p.m.
Mrs. Edens died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at Faith Regional Health Services-Lutheran campus.
She was born July 28, 1899, at Norfolk, the daughter of Nathan and Mary (Dittrich) Graves. She attended rural schools and Campbell's School of Nursing in Norfolk where she received a registered nurse's degree.
On Aug. 19, 1925, at Denver, she married Alfred Edens. She worked at Lutheran Community Hospital, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and did private nursing in people's homes. She retired in the late 1950s and has been at St. Joseph's Nursing Home the past three years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. David (Marion) Reeves, Omaha; one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, one great- great grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Chester (Helen) Hawkins, Tilden.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 21, 1970, four brothers and three sisters.

Music was by the "Bound for Glory" choir, with Mary Bruckner as organist. Pallbearers were Wayne Cox, Dale Voigt, Jack Thomas, Rod Thomas, Robert Seaman and Delbert Hawkins.
Mrs. Edens, who had been residing at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at a local hospital.
