He was born Dec. 30, 1931 in Edwards County near West Salem, the son of Charlton and Grace (Rosignol) Ahlfeld. He was the 7th of 8 children. He graduated from Edwards County High School.
He married Jean Ann McTaggart on Sept. 27, 1951 at the First Methodist Church, Mt. Carmel, and had four sons.
Clyde was a faithful and active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He served his country in the United States Army in Korea. He retired in 1996 after 44 years working as an electrician. No man could be more devoted to his wife and family. He was a great role model for all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeannie Ahlfeld; sons, Steve (Shirley) Ahlfeld of Bells, Texas, Bill (Susan) Ahlfeld of Fort Branch, Ind., Dan (Lori) Ahlfeld of Kodak, Tenn., and Rob Ahlfeld of Mt. Carmel; brother, Donald (Irmagene) Ahlfeld of Evansville, Ind.; sisters, Jean Rusk of Olney, and Evelyn (Larry) Tennyson of Streamwood, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Barbara McChesney and Norma and Randall Swain; four grandchildren, Eric (Stacia) Ahlfeld, Melanie (Mike) Hilliard, Jeni Ahlfeld and Ted (Lauren) Ahlfeld; two great-grandchildren, Ivy Hilliard and Isaac Ahlfeld; four step-grandchildren, Debra Christman, Barry Sampson, Kenny Kilroy and Natalie (Wayne) Steigerwald; many step-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Charlton and Grace Ahlfeld; three sisters, Eloise Clodfelter, Norma Clodfelter and Lucille Ahlfeld; and brother, Ivan Ahlfeld.
