Charlton William Ahlfeld, son of William and Josephine Reid Ahlfeld was born February 13, 1887 in north Edwards County.
On February 28, 1920 he was united in marriage with Grace Rosignol. To this union was born three sons, Harold Ivan, who died in 1933 at the age of 12, Donald of Mt. Carmel, and Clyde of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also five daughters, Lucille Ida, who died in infancy, Eloise (Mrs. Charles Clodfelter), Norma (Mrs. Sidney Clodfelter), both of West Salem, Jean (Mrs. Donald Rusk) of Noble and Evelyn (Mrs. Larry Tennyson) of Alhambra, California.
His parents and a sister, Mary, preceded him in death.
He passed on to that land which no traveler returns on Tuesday, February 11, 1964.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife who so tenderly cared for him during his illness, the above named children, seventeen grandchildren, one sister, Ida and a brother, Henry.
His entire life was spent near his birth place. He was a highly respected citizen and will be greatly missed by his relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at King Funeral home on Thursday, February 13 with Rev. Allen A. Lenius officiating. Interment was in the Macedonia Cemetery.
