Willard Lacy Pollard, Sr. was born in rural Henderson County, Illinois near the small town of Rozetta, the third of four children born to Lucilius and Martha Ann (Coghill) Pollard. He was a lawyer/patent attorney, having graduated from the University of Illinois. While working as an examiner for the U.S. Government in Washington, D.C. he met Nellie Theresa O'Hare; they married on 12 Sep 1909 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Their first two children, sons Willard Jr. and Benjamin, were born in D.C. He then moved to Evanston, Illinois, where he practiced law. Their other two children, Vincent and Anna were born here; Anna died as an infant and is buried in Monmouth (Illinois) Cemetery.

Funeral Saturday, 10:30 a.m., from Fitzgerald and Karsten Funeral Home, J571 Maple avenue, Evanston, to St. Athanasium Church. Mass 11 a.m., interment St. Mary Cemetery, Lake Forest.
