Born in Germany, the daughter of Michael Becker (aka Baker) and Margaret Anton.

Mrs. Margaret (Baker) Wehr died Friday, March 27, 1942, at her home in Sigourney. She was born in Germany Sept. 20, 1853, the daughter of Michael and Margaret Baker. She was one of a family of 12 children and came to America with her parents when 6 months of age and settled on a farm 4 miles west of Harper. She was a pioneer of Keokuk County, having spent her entire life here, with the exception of 2 years she spent in Kansas City, when she kept house for her son, Dr. Charles Wehr. On Jan. 10, 1871, she was united in marriage with John Wehr and located on a farm. two and one half miles northeast of Sigourney. They became the parents of 8 children, four of whom are living, namely, Mrs. Pete Hofman of Sigourney, Mrs. Anna Ollinger of Denver, Colorado, Oscar of Esmond, South Dakota and Albert of Sterling, Colorado. Her husband and 4 chidren preceded her in death, Edward, Veronica, Dr. Charles and Frank B., also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Lou Fagen of Sigourney and a brother, Pete Baker of Meeker Colorado, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grand children. She was a gold star mother and was a life member in the American Legion Auxilary.

Margaret Baker Wehr was the daughter of Michael and Margaret (Anton) Baker, who are buried at Baden Cemetery.
