John S. Baker, 75, a native of the Harper community, and for many years a resident of that place and in Sigourney. He was born April 5, 1859, the son of Michael and Margaret (Anton) Baker. He was married July 19, 1887 to Katie White and they made their home on a farm for a number of years, later moving into town. In 1923, they moved to Sigourney, living there until Mrs. Baker's death, Nov. 7, 1926. After that he made his home with his children. Surviving him are 11 children. Two sisters live at Sigourney, Mrs. Lou (Kate)Fagen and Mrs. Margaret Wehr. Private funeral services were held at Jones Funeral Home in Washington, burial in West Cemetery, Sigourney.
