BUCHANAN COUNTY, Va. -- Mr. Paul Thomas Chambers, 87, of the Pea Patch section, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at his home following a long illness.

Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Bob and Florence Moore Chambers.

He was a retired coal miner, a farmer and member of UMWA Local 7327, Jewell Valley, Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Day Chambers;

four sisters, Mary Carter, Bell Osborne, Margie Riley and Edith Rose; and

three brothers, Clarence Chambers, Claude Chambers and Walter Chambers.

Mr. Chambers is survived by: four sons, Ralph Chambers and wife Shirley of Pounding Mill, Va., and Rex Chambers, Homer Chambers and Jerry Chambers, all of Jewell Ridge, Va.;

four daughters, Mrs. Don (Gaynell) Horton of Raven, Va., Mrs. Don (Maybell) Cole of Jewell Ridge, Mrs. Ronnie (Berniece) Nelson of Jewell Ridge and Mrs. Clyde (Carol) Nelson of Jewell Ridge;

two brothers, Ira Chambers of North Carolina, and Sherman Chambers of Doran, Va.;

17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Va., with Rev. Troy Lester officiating.

Burial will follow in the Day Family Cemetery at Pea Patch, Va.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Randy Mitchell will serve as honorary pallbearer.
