Funeral services for Harold R. Amosson, 55, were held Saturday afternoon in the United Methodist Church. Rev. Donald L. Forbes officiated and interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Amosson died at his farm home west of Eagle Grove Thursday morning. He had been ill for several years, and had had many months of hospitalization seeking to regain his health.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters: Mrs. Wayne Jennings of Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Wm. Rutledge of Thornton, Colo.; three sons: Jerry, Plainfield, N.Y.; David, Omaha, Neb.; and Stephen of Eagle Grove. Other survivors include, 12 grandchildren; five brothers, Sam of Goldfield, Glen of Rockwell, Orville of Ottumwa, Edwin of Clarion, Richard of Hardy and two sisters: Mrs. Roy Hanson, Belmond; and Mrs. Clifford Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo.

His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Amos Amosson of Eagle Grove. Mr. Amosson was a farmer, hog buyer, and for the last few years had owned the Eagle Inn in downtown Eagle Grove.

He was a member of the United Methodist church.

Obituary

Harold R. Amosson was born North of Goldfield, in Wright County, on September 13, 1914, the son of Amos and Julia Jergensen Amosson. He attended the Wright County Schools.

On January 8, 1935 he was united in marriage with Vaughna M. Martin in the Methodist parsonage at Lake Mills. After residing on a farm north of Goldfield for three years they moved to the farm near Eagle Grove, where they were living when he died.

Harold was active as a livestock buyer, farmer and local businessman in Eagle Grove and surrounding areas for 35 years. Although his activity in recent years had become more limited because of his declining health.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and a past member of the Elks and Moose.

He entered into eternal rest early Thursday morning, June 18, 1970 at his farm home. He was 55 years, nine months and five days of age at the time of his passing.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Donald and Duane; and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Jotten. He is survived by his wife, Vaughna; five children: Jerry, Penfield, N. Y.; Mrs. Wayne Jennings, Eagle Grove; David, Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. William Rutledge, Thornton, Colo.; Stephen, Eagle Grove; 12 grandchildren; five brothers: Sam, Goldfield; Glen, Rockwell; Orville, Ottumwa; Edwin, Clarion; Richard, Hardy; and two sisters: Mrs. Roy Hanson, Belmond; and Mrs. Clifford Anderson, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, in the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, with Rev. Donald L. Forbes officiating. Interment was held in Rose Hill Cemetery.
