LOWVILLE — John McCue, 82, of Brookside Circle, Lowville, died Wednesday morning, August 22, 2012 at his home.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lowville. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the Lowville Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to Lewis County General Hospital Dialysis Unit, 7785 N. State St., Lowville, NY 13367.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dot; two sons, J. Craig and Gayle McCue of Covington, VA; Dr. Patrick and Diane McCue of Fort Collins, CO; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Anna and Raymond Gordon, Doris Stanton, Sarah Tiffany, all of Lowville; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Pauline McCue of North Carolina; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. McCue is predeceased by two sisters, Mary Kelly and Shirley Adydan; and a brother, Robert M. McCue.

John was born on March 9, 1930 in the Town of Martinsburg, NY, a son of the late Melvin and Ella Meyer McCue. He graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School in 1948. On August 22, 1953, he married Dorothy Smith in Stamford, NY, with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. John worked on the family farm until buying it in 1955. Together with his wife, the couple owned and operated the dairy farm from 1955 until 1978, when John retired due to his health.

Mr. McCue was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Lowville. He was a past director of the Lewis County Agricultural Society Board, and was past cattle superintendent at the Lewis County Fair for many years. John was a past director of the Lewis County Dairy Cooperative, and a past director of Lewis County Cooperative Extension. He was a member of B.P.O.E. 1605, Lowville Elks Lodge, and a past member of Lowville Grange.

John enjoyed reading, planning trips, traveling, and spending time with his family.
