Joseph Knab, 70, Box 641, Altoona, RD 5, Horeshoe Curve Road, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Altoona Hospital.
He was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Manhattan, N.Y., the son of Nepomuk and Marie (Lehrer) Knab. His father preceded him in death.He married Lorna Lorene Mundorff.
Mr. Knab was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
He retired as a pipefiller from Peoples Natural Gas Co. after 38 years of service.
Mr Knab was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 343rd Engineer Regiment, and a member of the A&J Laia American Legion Post. He was an avid hunter and gardener.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Linda Kay Tanzi and Karen Sue Johnson, both of Altoona;three sons: Joseph Jr. of Winfield, Kan., and John Scott and Lloyd Harrison, both of Altoona; his mother, Marie Kreutner of Altoona; three brothers: Edward A.Knob and Harold Knob, both of Altoona, and Herman M. Knab of Duncansville; two sisters:Caroline Chamberlain of Altoona and Rose A. Reece of Hollidaysburg; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Scaglione Duneral Home.
Preceded in death by two sisters: Elizabeth Moore and Mary Kraszewski.
Entombment at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
