William C. Prytherch, a local business man, who had been active in fraternal and religious circles, died at his home, 1218 Taylor Avenue, at 10:30 yesterday morning. He had suffered from a stomach ailment, for several years. This became acute a few days ago and caused his death.

Mr. Prytherch was born in Bleanau Ffestiniog, North Wales, August ?, 1869. In July 1874, he came to America with his parents, who settled in Utlca. Mr. Prytherch was educated in the Advanced School and as a young man worked in the printing office of Thomas J. Griffith, and later in the insurance office of Col. Israel J. Gray. For some years he was employed in the wholesale dry goods establishments of Smith, Sanford & Company, John C. Hieber at Company, and McAdam & Rathbun. In 1898 he went to work as a salesman

and bookkeeper in the coal office of Evans & Edwards and remained there until 1915, when he established himself in the coal business. In 1912, he had purchased a piece of property adjoining the West Shore Railroad in Mohawk Street and there he established the Acme coal yard. He sold the business some time ago and recently he had been manager of the New Coal Company. He was a member of the Utica Coal Dealers' Association and of the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Prytherch was a member of Faxton Lodge #97... He was also a member of St Davids Club, title Maennerchor, Cyroreigyddlon Society and the Automobile Club. In politics he was a Republican. He attended Moriah Church, where he was long a member, but since 1897 had been a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. He was quite active in church affairs and had served Plymouth as superintendent of the Sunday school. For nine years he was treasurer of the Oneida, Cortland and Delaware Association of Congregationalists and he had served in the same capacity for the state society.

He married Anna Davis, this city, November 18, 1896. She survives, with a daughter, Marion, one brother, Hugh Prytherch, Binghamton, and four grand children also survive.
