Edna Lucille Linderman was born July 14, 1917, the daughter of Agusta and Vida Maye Hain Walworth. She died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety.

Lucille was born near Buck Grove, Iowa, one of eight children, and grew up in the Denison area. After graduating from Denison High School, she attended normal school to become a teacher and taught rural school at Paradise Center. On May 6, 1939, she was united in marriage to Bernard Linderman and they were blessed with the birth of two daughters.

While her husband worked at various construction sites around the country, Lucille remained at home with her parents. When he returned to Iowa in 1945 they made their home on a farm three miles east of Dow City. Then in December 1960 they moved to Dow City where she worked for Kenny Ettleman at the truck stop before purchasing her own restaurant in Dow City which she named "Lucille's Café." She retired from the café in 1979 and lived in the same house until she entered Eventide Lutheran Home in 1997.

She was very active in the community and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Dow City where she was involved in many activities and held various offices. For many years she was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Lucille was a very loving and devoted wife and mother. Socializing with family and friends brought her great joy, as she was a very people-oriented person all her life. She collected ceramic roosters and enjoyed quilting, sewing and various other crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernard; two grandsons: Andy and Chris Randeris; five sisters, Opal Crampton, Joy Meents, Evelyn McMahon, Thelma Brasel, and LeRoyce, as an infant; two brothers: Verlin and Burton "Junior".

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at United Methodist Church in Dow City, Iowa. Rev. John Ballantine officiated the services and graveside rites at Dow City Cemetery in Dow City.
