Mrs. Mildred Depoy Vanaman, wife of Claude Vanaman of Star City, died at Starke Memorial hospital, Knox, on Thursday afternoon of last week, following the birth of a son, Daniel Claude. Forty-four years of age, she had been in ill health for several months, since being injured in an auto mishap. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N.B. Sims, she was born in White county, but spent most of her life in the Winamac vicinity. In 1925 she married Thomas Depoy, who died in 1947. Her marriage to Mr. Vanaman took place in 1949. Surviving, besides the husband and baby, are two sons and three daughters--Thomas Depoy of Grovertown, Leon of Star City, Mrs. Donna Cowger of Kouts, Mrs. Catherine Shidler of Winamac, and Betty Lou Depoy at home; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sims; brother, Roy Sims of Peru; five sisters, Mrs. Susie Braden of Winamac, Mrs. Mary Conner of Peru, Mrs. Eva Perry of Monticello, Mrs. Florence Polen of Delong, Mrs. Ruby Bagshaw of Anderson; five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Fry & Lange chapel, with the Rev. C.D. Barringer officiating. Ritualistic services were conducted by the Auxiliary of the V.F.W. of which she was a member. Burial was in the Winamac cemetery.
