Funeral services for Roy J. Sims, 48, of Monticello, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Miller Funeral Home. Burial was in the Winamac Cemetery. Mr. Sims died unexpectedly at 3 p.m. Saturday at his home. He had been ill for six years. Born July 13, 1925 in Winamac, he was the son of Napoleon and Pearl Homes Sims, Monticello. A carpenter for many years before becoming ill, he moved to Monticello from Winamac 25 years ago. His marriage was June 4, 1967, in Logansport, to Sandra Kay Helvie, who survives. Surviving with the widow are one son, Jeffery; and one stepson, Kevin Helvie at home; the mother, Mrs. Pearl Sims, Monticello; five sisters, Mrs. Susie Braden, Winamac; Mrs. Florence Polen, Royal Center; Mrs. Mary Conner, Peru; Mrs. Ruby Bradshaw, Anderson, and Mrs. Eva Stull, Monticello. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
