ROYAL CENTER — Services for Florence E. Sims Polen, 101, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Royal Center chapel.
She died at 10:32 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, in Chase Center, Logansport.
Born Nov. 3, 1905, in Royal Center, she was the daughter of the late N.B. and Pearl Holmes Sims. She was married Oct. 12, 1924, to William Polen Jr., who preceded in death Dec. 14, 1965.
A 1923 graduate of Winamac High School, Mrs. Polen was a homemaker who lived most of her life on a dairy farm in the farm communities of Winamac and Kewanna.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening and flowers, and loved spending time with her family. She was known for her crocheted nylon scratchers, and "Crystal Cathedral" was her favorite TV program.
Surviving are her daughter, Lois M. Harvey, and her husband, Darl; 12 grandchildren, Diana Marten and her husband, Bill, Darlene Thompson and her husband, Mike, Nancy Arnett and her husband, Gary, Miriam VanSickle, Rick Polen, Terry Polen and his wife, Holly, Peggy Benson and her husband, Curt, Cindy Schirm and her husband, John, Tracey Scott and her husband, Carl, Debra Young and her husband, Stan, Michael Harvey and his wife, Renda, and Brian Harvey and his wife, Missy; 25 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Three sons, William Jr., Allen and Edward Polen, one brother and six sisters preceded in death.
Pastor Ken Smith will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Citizens IOOF Cemetery, Kewanna.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
