Columbia - Services for William B. Amaker, 75, will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Device Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Forest Lake Presbyterian Church Building Fund or By Scouts of America. Mr. Amaker died April 30, 2000. Born in St. Matthews, he was a son of the late John B. Amaker and Luxora Ziegler Amaker. He was retired from Sears Roebuck and Company after 38 years. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a Boy Scout leader for 40 years, and an Eagle Scout. He was presented the Silver Beaver award, and served on the District Committee. Mr. Amaker was a member, deacon, and elder of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Doris Rhoden Amaker of Irmol daughter, Deborah A. Cates of Columbia; four grandchildren, Ronald N. Cates Jr., Amy M. Cates, William R. Amaker Jr., and Lauren Ashley Amaker. © The State, Columbia, SC, 1 May 2000
