Emil R. Spieker, 86, of 718 W. 3rd St., Waldo, passed away early Tuesday morning, Dec. 28, 1993, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, where he had been a patient the past three weeks.
He was born May 21, 1907 in Sherman Center, a son of the late Emil and Mary Hartwig Spieker. He attended St. John Lutheran School in Sherman Center.
On Sept. 30, 1933, he was married to Norma Jurss in Sheboygan Falls. They lived in Waldo following their marriage. He had been employed by the Hein Milk Machine Company for 35 years. He then owned and operated his own plumbing business in Waldo, until retiring in 1967. His wife preceded him in death in 1967.
He was a member of the Waldo Volunteer Fire Dept. from 1937 to 1973.
He is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. He enjoyed bowling and was active in several leagues through the years.
On Nov. 14, 1969, he was married to Lelia Borkenhagen Haas at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. They lived in Waldo since their marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Lelia; one step-son, David Haas, Neenah; two step-grandchildren, Shirley (Roger) Cotter, Waldo; Richard (Lei) Haas, Waimanalo, Hawaii; Three step-great-grandchildren, Robert (Donna) Cotter, Madison; Jean (Charles) Flunker and Ann Cotter, both of Waldo; five step-great-great-grandchildren, Richard, Daniel and Beth Ann Flunker, Christopher and Sean Cotter and one sister, Mabel Billman, Sheboygan Falls. He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 31, at 11:30 a.m. at the Wittkopp Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Thomas Burton, pastor of St, John Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wittkopp Funeral Home from 4
-8 p.m. on Thursday and on Friday, until the hour of services.
A memorial fund is being established in Emil's name for St. John Lutheran Church.
