Mrs. Mary Spieker, 89, a resident of the Town of Sherman her entire life, died late Friday at Rocky Knol Sanatorium and Hospital after a lingering illness.

A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Hartwig, pioneer residents of Sheboygan County, she was born March 28, 1870, on a farm in the Town of Sherman.

She attended St. John Lutheran School at Sherman Center, and was confirmed at St. John's Church, and was married there to Emil Spieker on July 15, 1888.

The couple farmed in the Town of Sherman until 1929 when they moved to Adell. Mrs. Spieker was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Adell, and the Ladies Aid Society of the church.

Survivors are seven sons, Louis, Hugo and Alvin of Adell, Paul of Plymouth, Otto of Random Lake, Emil of Waldo, and Oscar of Sheboygan Falls; four daughters, Mrs. Walter (Clara) Haas, Random Lake, Mrs. Erwin (Flora) Weinhold, Cascade, Mrs. Richard (Emma) Borkenhagen, Adell, and Mrs. Henry (Mable) Billmann, Sheboygan Falls; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, one brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Adell, with the Rev. Richard Bolin, pastor, officiating.
