Ronald W. Easterwood, 74, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at home in Greeneville, Tenn. after a brief illness. Born in Lafayette on March 2, 1938, he was the son of the late Herman and Amabel White Easterwood.

He lived and traveled worldwide while serving for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. His last choice of homes was found in the beautiful mountains of eastern Tenn.

Ron was an avid golfer. He played on the Seniors Golf League of Kingsport, Tenn. and with the Twin Creeks Golf Group of Afton, Tenn.

He married Marilyn A. McKinniss on June 22, 1963, who preceded him in death. They had three children who survive, Michele (husband: Michael) Fitzgerald, of Manassas, Va., Brian Easterwood, of Lake City, Fla. and Kelly (husband: Michael) Hopwood, of Lake City, Fla. Kelly and Michael gave him his only adored grandchildren Brittany and Michael.

He was preceded in death by all of his siblings, David, Paul, Richard, Robert, Estelle, Rosemary and Mary Francis.

Visitation followed by the service will be at Jeffers Afton Chapel near Greeneville, Tenn. beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012; Father Richard Wise and Father James Harvey officiating. He will be interred at Spring Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice .
