Ida May Carper, daughter of Jacob F. and Cynthia Whitten, was born Oct. 5, 1869 at Otoe, Nebr. and departed this life at the Good Samaritan Home in St. Francis, Kans., on Nov. 24, 1964 at the age of 95 years, 1 month and 19 days.
It was at Otoe that she spent the early years of her life and attended school. Mrs. Carper had lived most of her life in Nebraska and Iowa and then ten years ago came to live near her brothers, Ira and Merritt Whitten.
She was a lifetime memger of the Methodist Church and had been a member of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Carper; a son, Billy; three brothers and four sisters.
She leaves to mourn her passing, a brother, E.M.Whitten of Racine, Wisc.; a sister, Burdell Mitchell, Wethersfield, Conn.; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held Friday, Nov. 27 in the Oliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Rev. Harold Nelson officiating. Doris Hahn sang the hymns, accompanied by Iva Lake.
Pallbearers were; Frank Hahn, Lee Matteson, Virgil Whitsitt, Chet Hodge, Frank Hodge and Charles Hodge. Interment was in Alma Cemetery, Alma, Nebr.
