LEITHA M. NORLIN
Leitha M. Norlin, 55, of Norwalk, died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center of pulmonary emphysema. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Norwalk Christian Church, and burial will be at Norwalk Cemetery.
Miss Norlin was born in Dayton and had lived in Norwalk for 35 years. She was a retired graphic artist for the state of Iowa and a member of the Boxholm Lutheran Church.
Miss Norlin was inducted into the Women's Iowa State Association Softball Hall of Fame in 1972 and into the Des Moines Women's Softball Hall of Fame in 1973. Her softball career began in Dayton and continued when she moved to the Des Moines area in 1946. She was a pitcher for Green Electric.
Survivors include three sisters, Hyla Banister of Petaluma, Calif., Elinor Higgins of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Ilene Phipps of Norwalk; and five brothers, Larry of Petaluma, Alan of Norwalk, Gilbert of Des Moines, Keith of Marathon and Carmen of Monticello.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the Gallaway-McLaren Funeral Home in Norwalk.
