Daniel Myrig Thomas was born August 9, 1899 in Carroll, Wayne County, Nebraska. He was the son of Thomas J. and Sarah (Davis) Thomas. Dan died on August 12, 1976, three days after his 77th birthday.

Dan married Evelyn Marie Petsel on June 28, 1924. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1974. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, his daughter, Margaret Elise (Thomas) Fisher and her husband John Fisher, and grandchildren, Margaret Ruth "Margie" Fisher, Steven John Fisher and his wife Carmen, and Anita Sue Fisher.

Dan was a life-long member of the Presbyterian church, ordained as an elder on May 28, 1933. Dan kept active in the church choir and sang at many church and community events. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Sesostris Shrine Temple, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Dan was a member of the Valentine, Cherry County, Nebraska Rotary Club. He served as Mayor Valentine for two terms, beginning in 1934, and was a County Commissioner at the time of his death.

The oil business occupied him from the early thirties until retirement in 1967.

Other survivors include: his brother, Alfred Thomas of Carroll, Nebraska; his sister, Mrs. Anna Mae Morris of Carroll, Nebraska; his sister, Mrs. Della Baker of Baker, Oregon; his brother, Lloyd Thomas of Seattle, Washington; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
