Services were held Wednesday, December 17 at the Bethany Presbyterian Church west of Carroll. The Rev. Gail Axen officiated.
William Alfred Thomas, the son of Thomas J. and Sarah (Davis) Thomas, was born June 15, 1893, on a farm near Carroll. He attended rural school and Wayne State College in 1913-1914. He married Blodwen Jones on February 28, 1917, at her parents' home near Carroll. She died in 1974, and for the next ten years he spent summers at his farm home and winters at Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. For the past two years he had made his permanent home at Heritage of Bel Air. He was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church and Masonic Lodge, was associated with the ASC office and other farm programs from 1942 to 1967 and received a 25-year pin for his service.
Survivors include one brother, Lloyd George Thomas of Seattle, Washington, one sister, Mrs. Della Purus (Thomas) Baker of Baker, Oregon; nine nieces; six nephews, 27 grand nieces; and 21 grand nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife (Blodwen Christmas (Jones) Thomas), three brothers (Daniel Myrig Thomas, David Jenkins Thomas, Wayne Herold Thomas) and one sister (Anna Mae (Thomas) Morris).
Burial was in the Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery with Masonic rites by Fraternity Lodge No. 235, AF & AM, of Winside, Wayne County, Nebraska. Home for Funerals of Norfolk was in charge of arrangements.
