Mary Elizabeth (Fletcher) Finnacom was born in Montgomery County, Maryland 15 October 1834. At the age of 12 she was converted in Mt. Zion M.E. Church in Tenleytown DC. She married Stokley Finnacom 26 August 1846, by license, issued by Superior Court of District of Columbia. Mary and Stokley had 9 known children, Charles A.; Julius S.; George Fielding; Benjamin; William; Leonard; Frederick; Clarence; and Mary Elizabeth. She also raised two orphaned children of a friend, Willie and Mary Chamberlain. In 1885 Mary was listed at 1241 20th St. NW, her home, as a seamstress. She died 27 January 1892 at 11:35 a.m. Her extensive eulogy was given by her friend and neighbor Julia Mason.
