"Sam Schwindt and Elizabeth Appel were married December 19, 1909 at Bison, Kansas."

November 30, 1934 - Bison Courier - Obituary
Elizabeth Schwindt, nee Appel, was born March 25, 1886 near Bison, Kansas, where she lived all her life. On December 19, 1909 she was married to Samuel Schwindt. To this union five children were born of which one daughter, Leona, preceded her mother in death.

During the ministry of Brother C. F. Dallmus, she was converted, baptized, and became an active member of the German Baptist Church of Bison, Kansas. To her husband she was a loving, helpful, companion and to her children she was a truly wonder(ful) mother.

About six months ago she began to fail in health. The past ten weeks have been full of suffering, but she was a patient sufferer, more conscious, no doubt, than others knew that life's course was nearly run. The last five weeks were spent in the St. Rose Hospital at Great Bend. On Wednesday evening, November 21, 1934, she closed her eyes for her last sleep. Her genial spirit has swept out toward God and she has opened her eyes upon the sunrise of the Eternal Morning.

She attained the age of 48 years, 7 months and 26 days and leaves to mourn her departure her faithful husband, one son, Leon, three daughters, Velma, Luella and Leola; her step mother, Mrs. John Appel; five brothers, Jake from Healy, Sam from Otis, Harry from Scott City, William from LaCrosse and Benjamin from Bison, Kansas; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Schwindt, Mrs. Katie Frazier, Mrs. Sarah Scheuerman, all of Bison, Kansas and Mrs. Lydia Wells from Great Bend, Kansas, and scores of friends sorrow with them. Her hearty laughter rings in the corridors of Heaven and we know all is well.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon from the M. E. Church by Rev. Vasal in German and Rev. Wallace in English and interment was made in the German Baptist Cemetery.
