After serving in the military during the Korean War, he worked at Pullman Standard where he retired after 18 1/2 years. He was a life member of the Bessemer VFW Post 1762, Life member of AmVets and a member of the American Legion Post 22 for over 20 years.
Funeral Services will be held at Patterson Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at 11:00 A.M> with burial in Valhalla Cemetery. Rev. Lyndon Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2004 at Patterson Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Mr Vaughn is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nell Vaughn, daughter, Diane Gilbert; son Roger (Bebe) Vaughn all of Hueytown and daughter Susan (Robert) Ellis of Fairhope, Al. Eight grandchildren including Josh Vaughn his special grandson. Sister, Clara Williford and Adele Williams of Bessemer, Edith Hulley of Inverness and Nonnie Horton of Woodstock. Brothers, Vernon Vaughn of Shelby, Fred Vaughn of Bucksville, and Mike Vaughn of Bessemer. 2 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends who will miss his laughter and joy greatly.
