Nonnie Christine Horton of Woodstock, AL was born on July 15, 1927. Her sanctification began when she was saved as a teenager and on September 3, 2017 Jesus completed it by calling her home with Amos (Andy), her husband of 67 years, holding her hand.
She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Ellen Vaughn and her grandson, Ryan.
She is survived by her son Johnye and wife Bit, their 2 sons, DJ and wife Laurel and Cory and wife Wendy; her daughter Jo Collier; her son Dennis and wife Sherri, their 3 children, Joel and wife Laura, Casey Horne and Stephanie Grosse; and 10 great grandchildren, TY, Micah, Lily, Grey, Rhett, Cade, Emma, Addi and Andrew Horton and Colbie Horne; two brothers, Vernon and Mack Vaughn and a host of family and friends.
Nonnie patterned her life after Jesus, teaching her family and the world what a truly loving wife, mother and grandmother should look like. Her marriage and life with Andy will be the answer to the question of “how do we do this?” for countless Horton generations.
She was also a blessing in her community; accepting, loving and feeding anyone who walked through her front door.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, September 7, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Woodstock, AL located at 2473 Coldwater Rd. There will also be a visitation at 10:00 AM on Friday before the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the church. Following the service burial will be in the Cemetery of Reno Baptist Church located at 21256 Hwy 11 N, McCalla, Al. Officiating will be her pastor, Milton Simpson and her grandson Cory.
Pall Bearers will be grandsons, DJ, Cory and Joel and great grandsons Ty, Micah and Cade.
