Nels A. Silverness, 72, owner and operator of a drug store in Horicon since 1929, died unexpectedly at his home, 314 E. Lake St., Horicon, Tuesday. Mr. Silverness was born Nov. 21, 1894, at Mondovi, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nels J. Silverness. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in pharmacy in 1921. He married Isabelle Quarberg, May 24, 1922. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Horicon, a charter member of Mondovi American Legion Post 157, Mondovi Free and Accepted Masons and National Retail Drug Association. Mr. Silverness is survived by his widow; three daughters Mrs. John Haggerty, Birmingham, Mich., Mrs. Robert Jung Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Duane Schmatz, Dearborn, Mich.; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, Horicon Rev. Joe V. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Mondovi. Friends may call today at the Ulmer Funeral Home, Horicon, and after 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
