John Silverness

Mondovi (Special) – John Silverness, 90, one of the first men to sell petroleum products in the Mondovi area, died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire where he had been under treatment for a broken hip since Oct. 26.
Mr. Silverness was a charter member and the first trustee of the West Bennett Valley Lutheran Church. He currently was one of the oldest members of Both Central Lutheran Church and Mirror Lake Lodge No. 163, Knights of Pythias.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Melvin C. Johnson, Gilmanton, and Mrs. Fred Lee, Mondovi; three granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Nels Alvin, Horicon.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church, the Rev. Harold Haugland officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Park Cemetery.
