Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at Hengstler's Chapel with the Rev. John Reid, pastor of the Congregational-Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dean Albin, Charles Otradovsky, Matt Wagner, Cletus Werner, E.W. Stokes and Leland Stokes.
Velzo Eva Clifton, daughter of James E. and Tina Clifton, was born at Orchard Dec. 17, 1902. She was graduated from Orchard High School in 1918 and attended Wayne State College.
She was married to Lyman L. Elwood May 26, 1920, at Neligh. They farmed in the Creighton area all of their married life. She was brought up in the United Brethren Church at Orchard and later transferred to the Congregational-Baptist Church at Creighton.
Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Helen Rae) Allan of Wood River, two sons, Donald G. of Creighton and Wm. C. of Fremont; 12 grandchildren; one brother, James Clifton Jr. of Orchard and two sisters, Mrs. Arch (Lois) Browning and Mrs. Robert (Lorraine) Maxwell of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Archie and three sisters, Mrs. Golda Haines, Virginia and Sylvia Clifton.
