Lyman Elwood, 72, died Thursday, April 9 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Jan. 12.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Hengstler's Chapel with the Rev. John Reid, minister of the Congregational-Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were E.W. Stokes, Leland Stokes, Cletus Werner, Dean Albin, Matt Wagner and Charles Otradovsky.
Lyman Leonard Elwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clay Elwood, was born Feb. 24, 1898 at Creighton. He lived and farmed most of his life in the Creighton area. He attended Creighton High School and a business college in Des Moines, Ia.
On May 26, 1920, he married Velzo Eva Clifton at Neligh. Three children were born to them, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Robert (Helen Rae) Allan of Wood River, Donald G. of Creighton and Wm. C. of Fremont.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and two brothers, Ira of Batesland, S.D. and Linn of Gordon.
His parents, wife, three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
