Emma Josephine Nestor Knudsen 101 yrs, of Woodstock, Illinois died March 5, 2012 at the Woodstock Memorial Hospital, Woodstock, Illinois.

Emma was born on July 8, 1910 to Edward F. Nestor and Gertrude 'Betty' E. Nestor on a farm ten miles north of Wolbach, Nebraska. She attended rural school in Greeley County. Emma married Marius R. Knudsen on January 7, 1931 at Lincoln, Nebraska which was witnessed by Nona J. Bengston and John B. Bengston, to this union were born five children; two daughters; Betty Ann and Dorothy K., and three sons; Raymond C., James L., and John E.

Emma and Marius farmed on land nine miles north of Wolbach, Nebraska. In 1955 the couple sold their farm to live closer to their children in Woodstock, Illinois. Emma worked as a cook for the Valley High County Home, the Sunset Manor Nursing Home, and Woodstock Hospital until her retirement in 1972. She enjoyed growing her garden and taking care of her flowers. She canned the produce that her garden produced, and enjoyed baking and crocheting. Everyday she would take her walk, not only for the exercise, but to be able to stop and visit with her neighbors along the way. When she wasn't outside walking or working in her garden, she was putting on meals for her family when they would stop by to visit with her.

When her health began to give out she had to sell the home that she loved and move into the Village Cove on the square in Woodstock, Illinois. She began to enjoy her life at 'The Cove', and lived there for two years. From there she moved to the Woodstock Residence which is now Cross Roads Care Center in Woodstock, Illinois and lived there for eight years. She received recognition from the Mayor of Woodstock and the Governor of Illinois at an awards 100th birthday party that was held for her at the Woodstock Residence in 2010.

She enjoyed her 100th birthday party that was celebrated at Betty Ann's home, with the attendance of 65 guests.

Emma came down with pneumonia which brought on heart failure and died in the Woodstock Memorial Hospital on March 5, 2012. Emma enjoyed life and wanted to stay with us, but her time to leave had come for her to spend her new life in eternity.

She is preceded in death by her husband Marius, father Edward, mother Gertrude 'Betty', sisters; Gertrude, Margaret, and Frances, brother Raymond; brother-in-laws and many more relatives, that have been waiting for her for a long time.
