Lester T. Ashley, 60, a retired Alcoan, was found dead in his apartment in Syracuse Sunday, August 20, 1972.

He retired at Alcoa seven or eight years ago due to health reasons and had moved to Syracuse.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marguerite Lashomb Ashley; one daughter, Mrs. Wilfred (Carole) Beaudoin, Syracuse, and one son, Gary Ashley, in the US Navy; four grandchildren; four brothers, James and Clarence Ashley, both of Massena, Bernard Ashley, Vestal, and Leo Grant Ashley, Waddington; five sisters, Mrs. Frank (Sadie) Simser, Mrs. Thomas (Nellie) Foster, Mrs. Joseph (Sylvia) Premo, Sr., and Mrs. Francis (Lena) Kearns, all of Massena, and Mrs. Mabel Prescott, Syracuse.

Mr. Ashley was born on West Hatfield Street Road, February 25, 1913, a son of Charles and Catherine Sharlow Ashley. He attended local schools and in 1936 began working at Massena Operations, Alcoa. He was a wire drawer in the merchant mill finishing department.

He became an Alcoa 25 Year man in 1961.
